There are over 300 members of POhWER. Members receive two newsletters a year and they can vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Most of our Trustees are elected from the Memebership. Advocates and the Empowerment team support Members at the AGM.

Trustees
There are 15 places on POhWER's Board of Trustees. Most Trustees have used services in the past.
Trustees go to 6 Board meetings a year where they talk about POhWER's Business Plans, check what is happening in POhWER and discuss where POhWER needs to develop.
We also hold pre-Board meetings. These take place before each Board meeting. This is where we invite Trustees who may like more time to go through papers and understand issues to talk through the agenda and prepare any questions they might want to ask at the Board meeting.
We use traffic light voting cards at all Board meetings and at our AGM. This makes sure that everyone is able to take part in the meeting.
We also support Trustees by making the minutes of meetings accessible. This can involve putting pictures with the words, using easy words, using big writing.
Each year 1/3rd of the Board has to seek re-election.
Only people who are members of POhWER can vote for who they want to be a Trustee.
In the video below one of our Trustees, Carol Lee, talks about her journey to becoming a Trustee for POhWER and what it means to her.
