image: POhWER is a registered charity which provides advocacy services to people over sixteen years of age. This service is independent, confidential and free of charge. POhWER works with anyone who wants the help of an advocate to:
image: POhWER’s commitment to enabling people to speak up for their rights is mainly delivered through one-to-one advocacy services. This means that an advocate is allocated to work with someone who wants help.
image: POhWER has two offices in Hertfordshire, one in Stevenage and the other in Harperbury. Advocates travel throughout Hertfordshire visiting people in hospital settings, their own homes and other Community Settings. POhWER also provides ‘drop in’ surgeries at hospitals and community centres.

image: POhWER also runs the Independent Complaints Advocacy Service [ICAS] which helps people who want to make a complaint about NHS services provided by their Hospital, Health Centre, Doctor, Dentist, Pharmacist, Optician or Ambulance Service. Again, this service is independent, confidential and free of charge. POhWER ICAS operates across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk and is available to anyone over the age of 16 who is within these counties. If you would like help to make a complaint about health services or to find out what is involved, you can contact your local ICAS office:
