Smoking ban in secure units upheld by Court

An application by Rampton patients for an extension to the smoking ban exemption due to end on 1st July 2008 has been refused.
The smoking ban introduced in 2007 across England included a temporary exemption for a few designated rooms in secure psychiatric settings to be set aside as smoking rooms. This is due to end on 1 July 2008 and was the subject of a challenge by patients at Rampton.
