NHS complaints advocacy service extended and local jobs secured until March 2013

15 March 2011

Along with other changes proposed in the paper, we’re particularly concerned that the independent complaints advocacy service (ICAS) which we deliver in many parts of the country might be replaced by a more limited and less independent service in the future. Following a survey and member workshops, we drew up a response called ‘We will if you will’ which was handed to Stephen McPartland last October. He handed this to the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley.

We are very pleased to announce that ICAS will now be extended until March 2013. In addition, seven advocacy staff who work across the Hertfordshire community have had their jobs secured for a further two years. It is great news that our response was so well received by Andrew Lansley and has contributed positively to the decisions to extend the service. Thank you to everyone who took part.
